                  A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF CONTRACT
                  NO. P-1-97, BITUMINOUS PAVEMENT RESURFACING,
                  TO C. W. MATTHEWS CONTRACTING COMPANY, INC.,
                  FOR THEIR LOW BID IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE
                  MILLION, NINE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND, TWO
                  HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1,950,200.00).
                 
                 
                                                    
                 
                 
       	    	 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, that there be and is hereby authorized 
the
       award of Contract No. P-1-97, Bituminous Pavement Resurfacing, to 

       C. W. Matthews Contracting Company, Inc., for their low bid in 
the
       amount of $1,950,200.00.
